The Imp and the Hound

Hello there. This time, I decided to give in to my taste for medieval fantasy and draw two of my favorite characters from A Song of Ice and Fire series (mostly known for the HBO series "Game of Thrones").

Tyrion Lannister, the "imp", is a fan favorite, a smart character who relies on his intelligence to keep up with the numerous intrigues and plots of Westeros. Sandor Clegane, on the other hand, is my personal favorite. Known as "the Hound", he's a blunt warrior with a unique sense of honor and loyalty.

This picture is dark like many of my previous works, but this time I tried to keep a high level of detail instead of hiding everything with blasts of color and light. During the painting process, I found myself working with many differents of black and dark brown, looking at the screen from different points of view to assure that the details were actually there. Special attention was given to the faces of the characters.

Both Tyrion and Sandor look absurdly different from what they show on TV. I tried to stay loyal to the mental picture I had in mind while reading the books (I'm on the 3rd one, btw), and I think I achieved my goal, specially with Sandor and his scarred face. Tyrion, in my mind, looked a tad more bizarre, something like the hunchback of Notre Dame from Disney's rendition of the classic tale, but watching a few episodes changed my perception of the character a little.

I could've spent a few more weeks working on this picture, but I decided to leave it be. It does feature much more detail than my previous works, so I'm pretty satisfied with it already. My goal is to mantain the consistency in my next pictures, see if I can get more detail and more light on the canvas. Hope you enjoy it!
